About the Book
These illustrations are inspired by Sam Graham’s poem The Girl Is the Moon. The visual journey explores the perspectives of both women and men, examining how cultural expectations imposed on girls and boys shape behavior and influence relationships between the sexes. At its core is a call for understanding and reconciliation.
Heidi’s bright, optimistic illustrations move fluidly through the poem’s stanzas, offering a sense of hope. Sam’s poem carries its weight gently—its words drift softly while engaging with a deeply resonant and complex theme.
